JOB TITLE: HEAD OF INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY

REPORTING TO: Chief Executive Officer

BUSINESS FUNCTION: Information Technology (IT)

 

ABOUT US:

Agent Banking Company is a leading Fintech organization licensed by the Bank of Uganda as a Payment System Operator. We specialize in providing shared and interoperable platforms and infrastructure to financial services providers in Uganda, enabling them to serve customers at scale securely and affordably.

POSITION OVERVIEW:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Head of Information Technology to lead our IT department. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of our technology operations, including infrastructure, systems, and software development. They will play a crucial role in driving innovation, ensuring cybersecurity, and maintaining high levels of operational efficiency.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Develop and implement IT strategies and initiatives aligned with the company’s objectives.
  2. Lead and manage the IT team, providing guidance, support, and mentorship to ensure high performance and collaboration.
  3. Oversee the design, implementation, and maintenance of infrastructure, networks, and systems to support the company’s operations.
  4. Drive innovation by evaluating emerging technologies and implementing solutions to enhance efficiency, scalability, and security.
  5. Collaborate with other departments to identify and address technology needs and opportunities.
  6. Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry best practices for data security and privacy.
  7. Develop and maintain disaster recovery and business continuity plans.
  8. Manage vendor relationships and negotiate contracts for IT products and services.
  9. Provide regular reports to senior management on IT performance, projects, and initiatives.

QUALIFICATION:

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field; McSc/MA degree preferred.

SKILLS & EXPERIENCES

  1. At least 7 years of experience in IT management, with a track record of success in leading technology teams and driving innovation.
  2. Strong understanding of IT infrastructure, systems architecture, and cybersecurity principles.
  3. Experience with fintech or banking systems preferred.
  4. Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  5. Proven ability to develop and implement IT strategies aligned with business goals.
  6. Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage multiple priorities effectively.
